This is a Wau (kite) lantern. Initial when I look at this lantern I was wondering what is this? After viewing this photo for few times then only I realise this is a Wau lantern.

What does "Wau" mean? I can see that inside the lantern is "wayang" - Indonesian puppet.
Wau means kite. At the east coast of peninsular Malaysia they make special kite and call it "Wau". The logo of Malaysia Airline is also a Wau shape.
